  5.     As the top Lincoln-Mercury dealer on the East Coast, Freddye
  6. "Action" Jackson knows how to strike a deal. But none of his
  7. promotions have ever stirred such a fuss as his Christian
  8. Members Buyers Plan. A born-again Christian, Jackson sells
  9. Lincolns for $600 over dealer cost and Mercurys for a mere $250
  10. markup to certifiable Christians in Fairfax, Va. Ministers get
  11. an even better deal, and with each sale Jackson makes a
  12. donation to the church of the buyer's choice.

  14.     The program has sparked an uproar because he declines to
  15. offer the same discounts to any non-Christians except Jews,
  16. whom Jackson said he includes because they believe in God. Even
  17. so, David Friedman, regional director of the Anti-Defamation
  18. League of B'nai B'rith, has urged Jackson to drop the program.
  19. Says he: "I want him to see there is something wrong in asking
  20. customers to declare their religious affiliation and to treat
  21. them differently according to that."
